Our establishment dates back to 1567. We began as a tea house located on the Wakasa-kaido path, also known as Saba ('mackerel')-kaido, as people carried fresh fish from the Sea of Japan to Kyoto. Our cuisine has been favored by many visitors and celebrities for over 450 years.
We hope that you will enjoy our specialties such as steamed rice and oats with grated yam potato and the Kaiseki course featuring Tile fish prepared with great care and traditional expertise.

As soon as you step through the noble Kigyumon Gate, you will see a traditional building standing amidst the garden.
Built with artisanal wisdom, the Sukiya style rooms offer a view of the Takano river.
With the splendid scene of the Matsugasaki hills rising beyond the garden, enjoy our original cuisine while listening to the melodious sound of the passing river.
